A potential multi-family housing development is coming to southeast Ocala pending a zoning amendment request.
The Ocala Planning and Zoning Commission will hear the request during their next regular meeting on Monday, June 14. The property in question, which was annexed into the city in 2006, is 23.51 acres and is located at 2550 SE 24th Street.
According to city records, the property is without zoning today. It has been used as a single-family home and for agricultural purposes to this point, so a zoning district would need to be adopted prior to any potential development.
The city says it has begun coordinating with representatives of the property to “come to a collaborative and comprehensive strategy to address access and traffic issues in the area.” The city has hired an independent third-party engineering consultant to assist with the process.
