Rinus Veekay Injured In Cycling Accident, Status Pending For Road America - Frontstretch.com

Rinus VeeKay was injured in a cycling accident during a training ride early Tuesday, Ed Carpenter Racing announced June 15.

The NTT IndyCar Series young gun sustained a clavicle injury and is being treated by INDYCAR’s medical staff.

The team said VeeKay’s participation in this weekend’s Rev Group Grand Prix at Road America is pending.

VeeKay earned his first career win earlier in May at the Indianapolis Grand Prix and earned a runner-up finish June 12, in the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix’s first race of its doubleheader.

He currently sits fifth in the IndyCar points standings, 56 points behind Patricio O’Ward.

Sunday’s IndyCar race will be live on NBC Sports Network, with coverage beginning at noon ET.
