Charges are pending against a 23-year-old Fort Worth man who police said crashed a car in North Richland Hills late Thursday night, critically injuring a 4-year-old passenger.

North Richland Hills police said the driver, whose name was not released, crashed about 11:45 p.m. on westbound Loop 820 near the Boulevard 26 exit. The man suffered serious injuries but was expected to survive.

A 4-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and police said the child was stable Friday morning.

Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, and charges are pending against the driver.

The exit was closed for about three hours early Friday.
