Ducks place GM/EVP Bob Murray on administrative leave pending ongoing investigation - The Athletic

The Anaheim Ducks put longtime general manager Bob Murray on administrative leave Tuesday pending what the team said is an ongoing investigation related to professional conduct.

Murray, 66, has been the Ducks’ GM since succeeding Brian Burke in November 2008, and is the NHL’s third-longest tenured executive in that position behind David Poile of Nashville and Doug Wilson of San Jose. Jeff Solomon, the former longtime Los Angeles Kings executive who was hired by Anaheim in May as vice president of hockey operations and assistant GM, is taking over the top spot on an interim basis.

"We recently became aware of accusations of improper professional conduct against Bob Murray," the team said in a statement. "After internal review, we enlisted Sheppard Mullin to perform an independent investigation. Upon recommendation from their initial findings, we have decided to place Bob on administrative leave pending final results."

The Ducks, who are currently 6-4-3 on the young season, added that they will not have any further comment until the investigation is complete.

In 2014, Murray was named the NHL’s general manager of the year after the Ducks established club records with 54 wins and 116 points. Now in his 14th season as GM, Murray’s teams have gone to the playoffs eight times with conference final appearances in 2015 and 2017.
