Election Day ends in Louisiana; results of voting pending - WAFB

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Polls across Louisiana are officially closed.

Some Baton Rouge area voters are seating multiple public officials, including a new East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council Member for District 5, a new judge for the 19th Judicial Court District, and a new state representative.

Complete but not certified results of the March 26th election will be added as they become available from the Louisiana Secretary of State

Darryl Hurst has been elected by voters to serve as Metro District 5 Councilmember, according to the Secretary of State’s unofficial election results.

Hurst will be the permanent replacement for Erika Greene, who resigned in November after being elected as judge of the East Baton Rouge Parish Family Court. He has served as interim for Greene on the Metro Council.

Other candidates running against Hurst for Metro District 5 Councilmember included Daniel Banguel (D) and Dadrius Lanus (D).

Jordan Faircloth (R), Brad Myers (R), and “Jen” Racca (R) ran for 19th Judicial District Court Judge in the March 26th election.

A run-off election will be held between Faircloth and Myers, according to Secretary of State’s unofficial election results.

The winner of this run-off election will replace William Morvant, who retired in November.

Vanessa Caston LaFleur has been elected by voters to serve as the State Representative of the 101st Representative District, according to the Secretary of State’s unofficial election results.

LaFleur will replace “Ted” James, who resigned in January after being appointed as SBA Regional 6 Director.

Other candidates who were running against LaFleur for State Representative of the 101st Representative District included Dawn Chanet Collins (D) and Terry Hebert (I).

Residents voted to renew Zachary Community School System’s 10 year 38.2 mill property tax, according to the Secretary of State’s unofficial election results.
