WASHINGTON, D. C. -- A large field of candidates filed paperwork to run for Northeast Ohio congressional seats Friday, even though some of them don’t know exactly where they’ll end up running as the state’s congressional map faces legal challenges.
The latest map was approved just two days before Friday’s congressional filing deadline. The last-minute changes were made after Ohio’s Supreme Court rejected an earlier draft as an unconstitutional gerrymander. The new boundaries prompted several previously announced candidates to switch districts. More candidates will likely switch districts if the courts reject the latest map as the legal wrangling over the maps persists.
