Ergin Ataman has a deal with Panathinaikos in place, but it’s unclear who will replace him in Anadolu Efes, with Xavi Pascual in the mix. Still, the Istanbul club is looking for reinforcements, with Derek Willis having a deal for the next season, according to Eurohoops sources.
Since it’s unfamiliar who will take the team from Ataman, Willis is pending the approval of the new head coach.
The 27-year-old forward signed for Reyer Venice last summer, and played in EuroCup for the Italian team, averaging 12,9 points per game. In Legabasket, he averaged 9,9 points and 5,5 boards.
Before Venice, Willis played for Gottingen and Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, Italian Happy Casa Brindisi, and in season 2021-22 wore the jersey of Joventut Badalona.
He started his European career in 2018. with Gottingen, but before he spent a season in G League with Grand Rapids Drive, a team affiliated with the Denver Nuggets.
