With the CFL now officially into the off-season, teams are now putting their plans in place for the 2024 season.
Not only are the Saskatchewan Roughriders getting set to name a head coach, but the team will have work to do in free agency, as 31 players will hit the open market on Feb. 13 at 11 a.m.

Among the players set to become free agents are quarterbacks Jake Dolegala and Mason Fine, who both started several games last season after starter Trevor Harris was injured. Harris is entering the second year of his two-year contract originally signed in 2022.

Starting running back Jamal Morrow and backup Frankie Hickson are both pending free agents, along with 1,000-yard receiver Shawn Bane Jr. and return specialist Mario Alford. Kicker Brett Lauther is also a free agent.
Along the offensive line, Philip Blake, Logan Ferland, Evan Johnson, Colin Kelly and Eric Lofton are all without contracts. Peter Godber and Brandon Council are the only players currently with deals for next season.
On defence, the defensive line will be a priority as Micah Johnson, Anthony Lanier II and Pete Robertson are among the potential free agents. Linebacker Larry Dean — Saskatchewan’s most outstanding player in 2023 — is also a pending free agent. Starting linebackers C.J. Reavis, Derrick Moncrief and Micah Teitz are also pending free agents.
The secondary could also look different in 2024 with Amari Henderson and Jeremy Clark set to hit the open market. Nic Marshall was also released earlier this month due to a legal issue.
General manager Jeremy O’Day has crossed a few names off the free agent list as he has already signed quarterback Antonio Pipkin, receiver Brayden Lenius and long snapper Jorgen Hus to contract extensions. The Green and White have also signed linebacker Matt Dean and offensive lineman Zack Fry after both ended the season on the practice roster. Other players who ended the season on the practice roster, like QB Shea Patterson, are also free agents.
