FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Charges are pending against one driver in a crash that killed a woman, according to Virginia State Police.
Monica Michelle Austin, 47 of Glade Hill, died at the scene of the crash.
Police say the crash was January 9, 2024, on Old Franklin Turnpike, at the intersection with Webster Road in Franklin County. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was headed east on Old Franklin Turnpike, crossed the center line and hit a Dodge Caravan head-on. Austin was driving the Dodge.
The Chevrolet was driven by Michael G. Odenwald, 43 of Michigan. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash. As the investigation is ongoing, police haven’t stated what charges may be filed.
