SCOTIA —Village police on Wednesday night responded to an incident near Freedom Park between an adult male and a group of juveniles that ended with the arrest of Lance E. St. Luis, 34, of Glenville, police said.
St. Luis instigated the fight, according to Scotia police, who said he may have been suffering from some type of mental issue. Police said some kind of disturbance led him to grab one of the juveniles. That was followed by the rest of the juveniles jumping in and and assaulting St. Luis, according to police. At that point, police were called and told that one of the juveniles was seen with a taser.
When police arrived, the juveniles fled toward the bridge. One officer spoke to St. Luis and others while another pursued the juveniles toward the Western Gateway Bridge. When police caught up to the group, they were riding bikes in and out of traffic. They were then brought back to the scene of the fight, police said. They then were turned over to their parents.
St. Luis was charged with harassment, but police said other charges may be pending. Police are still reviewing video of the incident, along with other information collected Wednesday. The full police report will be released in the coming days, police said.
