Charges are pending against the driver and occupants of a van involved in a collision early Wednesday that sent a motorcyclist to hospital suffering from serious injuries.

A Winnipeg Police Service spokesman said police and emergency services were called to Levi Street and Talbot Avenue in Elmwood at about 6:10 a.m.

“There is some information that they did flee and we were able to track them down, ultimately, and take them in custody and conduct interviews. So as far as potential charges, that’s still pending at this time,” Cst. Jason Michalyshen said.
Police declined to provide more details of the motorcyclist’s condition or identity. More details are expected Thursday.
The traffic division was on scene for much of the day, closing Talbot Avenue between Stadacona and Brazier streets. It was expected to re-open ahead of rush-hour traffic.
